Getting Started
Pediatric MotorWerks uses a five-step process to ensure that your child’s transition into therapy is as smooth as possible. We are dedicated to assisting you in this process to make sure your experience with us is pleasant, enjoyable and most importantly fun!
Your child’s assessment will be a comprehensive one to two-hour evaluation consisting of parent and child consultation, clinical observation, tests and measures, standardized testing, and parent-report measures. The assessment allows our therapist to collect information and data necessary to design the most effective treatments necessary for your child.
Directly following your child’s evaluation our therapist will sit down with you to discuss the findings of the assessment. They will consult with you regarding your expectations for therapy and will establish treatment goals that are most important to you and your family.
Your therapist will then include the results of standardized testing and findings from questionnaires to establish a treatment plan to support your family’s priorities. Treatment goals will include short and long-term goals aimed at improving your child’s function and independence.
Treatment will vary based on your child’s age, diagnosis, stage of development, and your objectives. A variety of treatment methods may be used to support your child’s development. Sixty-minute treatment sessions are typically scheduled. All programs involve parent and child engagement, education, and continued assessment of response to treatment.
As necessary, your child will be re-assessed using clinical observation, tests and measures, standardized testing, and parent-report measures. A written report will be produced and our therapists will collaborate with you on continued services or potential discharge from outpatient services.
